The Story of This Rug
The ivory ground is where the weaver uses empty space like a color; palmettes and rosettes breathe one by one across this quiet backdrop. It is one of the brightest interpretations of the Sultanabad tradition.
Why Choose a One-of-a-Kind Handwoven Afghan Rug
- Uniqueness: There is only one of this rug; the same knotting rhythm and dye batch can never be repeated.
- Durability of natural dyes: Unlike synthetic aniline dyes, root dyes do not fade – they simply soften over time.
- Ghazni wool: Long-staple, lanolin-rich wool from high-altitude sheep offers natural stain resistance and a silky sheen.
- Asymmetrical Persian knot: Finer detail resolution and sharper motif edges than the Turkish (Gördes) knot.
- Investment value: Genuine handwoven rugs dyed with natural dyes gain value with use across generations.
Color and Pattern
Cinnamon, madder-red, and muted-green palmettes sit on an ivory ground, interspersed with rosettes filled in navy blue. The light ground makes the room feel larger and works with both classic and contemporary furniture.
Care Recommendations
- Vacuum on a low setting using a brushless vacuum head.
- For spills, blot immediately with a clean white cotton cloth; do not rub.
- Rotate 180° every six months to distribute sunlight and foot traffic evenly.
- Leave wet cleaning to a rug specialist experienced with natural dyes.
Handwoven Afghan rugs are not “manufactured”; they are “woven.” This piece is no different: it is sold only once, and no other home will have another exactly like it.

Protect Its Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven creations made with natural fibers—which add value to your living space—for generations, a careful care routine is essential.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid spills, timing is critical. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, blot the liquid gently from the surface without rubbing. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use a vacuum cleaner with low suction. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance how natural yarns react to light and prevent uneven changes in color (fading), we recommend rotating your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Fine textures such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
Due to their construction, the exceptional pieces in Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing. (Only our specific models explicitly marked “Washable” in their names can be washed in household machines on a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
