The Story Behind This Rug
The scattered bouquet tradition brings the springtime gardens of Khorasan to the surface of the rug; each bouquet is woven with subtle differences, as if made by a different hand. The mustard ground turns these flowers a honeyed shade in the daylight.
Why Choose a One-of-a-Kind Handwoven Afghan Rug
- Uniqueness: There is only one of this rug; its knotting rhythm and dye batch can never be replicated.
- Botanical dye durability: Unlike synthetic aniline dyes, root dyes do not fade – they only soften over time.
- Ghazni wool: Long-fiber wool with a high lanolin content, sourced from sheep raised at high altitudes; it offers natural stain resistance and a silky sheen.
- Asymmetrical Persian knot: Finer detail resolution and sharper motif edges than the Turkish (Gördes) knot.
- Investment value: Genuine handwoven rugs dyed with botanical dyes gain value over generations of use.
Color and Pattern
Miniature bouquets in madder red, indigo blue, and cream are scattered in a regular rhythm across the mustard yellow ground; a chain of the same flowers runs around the narrow border. It creates a warm focal point in rooms with neutral or dark floors.
Care Recommendations
- Vacuum on a low setting with a brushless vacuum head.
- Blot spills immediately with a white cotton cloth; do not rub.
- Rotate 180° every 6 months to distribute sunlight and foot traffic evenly.
- Leave wet cleaning to a rug cleaner who specializes in botanical dyes.
Afghan handwoven rugs are not "manufactured"; they are "woven." This piece is no exception; it will be sold only once, and no other home will have an identical one.

Protect Their Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven, natural-fiber creations that bring value to your living space for generations, adopt a gentle care routine.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When spills occur, timing is critical. Use a clean, slightly damp cloth to lift the liquid from the surface by gently blotting only - never rub. Always work in the direction of the rug pile (the fibers’ natural lay). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use vacuum cleaners with low suction power. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance natural fibers’ reaction to light and prevent localized tonal differences (fading), we recommend changing your rug’s direction every 2 to 6 months.
The Expert Touch (Professional Cleaning)
Noble fibers such as handwoven TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
The exquisite pieces in the Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing due to their construction. (Only specific models explicitly labeled “Washable” in their name can be washed in home washing machines using a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
